Email Delivery Changes Begin Today, Are You Up to Speed?

Updates and Notes for February 1st

As a reminder, Google and Yahoo are enforcing their new requirements for mass senders starting today. While Google has indicated that restrictions for non-compliance will deploy over the coming months, our changes will remain active now and we will continue to fine-tune our routines to adapt to any updated requirements.

Unsubscribe Options: What Happens if a Member Unsubscribes?

Remember that members will now see an Unsubscribe option on emails, allowing them to unsubscribe from that particular email type. Members who elect to unsubscribe will no longer receive emails of that type, but no changes will be made to their CU*BASE member information, and they will continue to receive other email types.

Changes to Client News Formats

Client News will still contain the same great content, but in a slightly different format as we begin to migrate to a compliant third-party service. Due to this change, Client News emails may be funneled to your junk or spam folders – please review and mark our emails as “not junk” and move them to your inbox so that you can continue to stay informed and keep up to date on important tasks, events, Alerts, and reminders from CU*Answers. Remember you can make changes to your Client News recipients list in the Writing Team Store.

Reminder – Have Members Check Junk/Spam, Too!

As a general reminder, members also may need to check their junk/spam folders for emails from the credit union. Unfortunately, we do not have control over how email providers deliver emails to members, and some may occasionally end up in spam folders. When troubleshooting with members who are having trouble finding email notifications (especially if your credit union recently underwent a domain change), this is always the best first place to look.

Additional Requirements Announced

Google recently added an additional requirement for mass senders, requiring DMARC records for all domains. This new requirement will impact a small group of credit unions who are using custom domains. More information will soon follow for credit unions requiring these updates.

In Case of Email Outages

As a reminder, we have posted an alert (secured network-only) that will be updated as needed should we encounter any issues due to these changes.  This alert will serve to keep clients informed of any issues or complications that may arise as part of the updates, which may include the temporary inability for CU*Answers and/or our network clients to send/receive emails as intended.  We strongly encourage clients to refer to this alert if any issues arise, as we may be unable to deliver notification emails.

Continue to Stay Alert and Informed

As additional requirements are announced, or any changes take place, remember to review the Kitchen page on the CU*Answers website for updated information. The Kitchen also includes details on the current state of email policy changes, reasons for the changes, and information on what CU*Answers is doing to support these changes.
